Symptoms of bedbug bite do not manifest immediately. Sometimes, it takes a few days before you can know that you’ve been bitten by a bedbug. Unlike other biting insects that come out every night to feed, bedbugs may go for several days without coming out to feed. Because of this, it may take a longer time to realize that your bites are from bedbugs.
Bedbug bites are nor felt instantly because before they bite, they secrete some form of anesthesia into the body, which makes it difficult for one to feel the pain. After some days, the victim starts to experience itchy burning sensation on the skin. Scratching those itchy parts may cause an infection that’ll lead to bleeding or swelling of the skin.
Other bites that look like bedbug bite You may not suspect that the bites on your skin are bedbug bites unless if you’re aware that your bed is infested. Ordinarily, you may think that they’re mosquito or flea bites, especially because the affected parts may become swollen, itchy and reddish. However, bedbug bites look different from mosquito and flea bites. While mosquito bites are sporadic, bedbug bites often appear in straight line or small groupings. Flea bites, on the other hand, are often small and affect mainly the ankle and legs.
